Leaked in less than 4 years
The unit started leaking in less than 4 years. Homedepot warranty was great and replaced no questions asked, taking it back to HD was a pain though. Overall I think quality is pretty bad.

Move on to another brand
Purchased from the local Home depot. Box was in good shape no damage ect. Get it home pull it from the box it was damaged at the top. The heater says do not return to store. The electric guy was there as we went from gas to electric. He was patient why i called Reem. After 30 min lady transfered me to another . Waited 85 min . Lady picked up and was rude from the start. She said we dont ship damaged items she told me this 3 times despite what i said. Returning to get a IO Smith.

I have never seen such poor quality in a product ever ! The first Rheem water heater arrived damaged ,the heater was all dented , bent base and so banged up the plumber said it was beyond repair …. So … I promptly ordered a new one online (my second mistake ) .. the second heater arrives and it was damaged worse then the first one .. I returned that one as well . There is NO way warehouse / factory workers weren’t aware of the condition of these heaters before they left the warehouse . Ridiculous !

Poor Quality Control- Try a different brand
I had this installed in 1 hour and everything seemed fine, until the electrical connection point filled with water. I could not tell at first where it was coming from. I re-checked all connections to the tank. No leaks. After a bit of research, I figured out it was the anode tube. This requires cutting out the insulation to get to it, and a large 1-1/16" socket to remove it. After removing and re-sealing the threads the leak was eliminated. Rheem has lots of bad reviews. Try a different brand.

Watch the diameter!
My heater is not installed yet, but 2 stars for poor ecommerce. I ordered online, (Rheem Performance 50 Gal. 4500-Watt Residential Tall Electric Water Heater with 6-Year Tank Warranty and 240-Volt) where it said the diameter of the unit was 20.25". A 23" diameter one was delivered to my house, which is too big for the nook it goes in. I never did figure out how to select between the two diameters on the website. I laboriously loaded it in the back of our minivan and took it back to the store, where there were plenty of the 20.25" ones in stock. You probably ought to walk into a brick and mortar Home Depot to make sure you have the right one.
